Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)
and Trenchless Construction Specialists
Rolkon Construction is a specialist Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) and trenchless contractor delivering underground infrastructure solutions across South Africa.
Established in 2011 as KwaZulu-Natal’s first HDD company, Rolkon provides trenchless construction services for projects where conventional trenching is too disruptive, too risky, or simply not practical. We partner with municipalities, developers, consulting engineers, contractors, and parastatals to deliver water, sewer, stormwater, electrical, fibre, gas, and pipeline rehabilitation projects.
With more than 50 years of combined team experience, we combine technical expertise, precision machinery, and specialist technology to manage projects “from scan to sleeve” – from technical input and route planning through to execution and project close-out.
Guided by our ethos of “Leave no site unresolved,” our focus is on reducing disruption, minimising risk, and delivering underground infrastructure with precision, accountability, and lasting value.

SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT
Safety and environmental responsibility are built into every stage of Rolkon’s trenchless construction process.
By minimising excavation and surface disruption, trenchless methods reduce the impact on surrounding communities, infrastructure, traffic flow, and environmentally sensitive areas such as wetlands, rail corridors, roads, and built environments.
Rolkon’s approach includes:
- Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) scanning and route planning before drilling begins.
- Full PPE, signage, barricading, and site safety procedures.
- Daily toolbox talks and ongoing safety checks.
- Reduced dust, noise, traffic disruption, and C.O₂ emissions.
- Minimal surface damage and reduced reinstatement requirements.
Trenchless construction also reduces many of the risks associated with traditional excavation, including trench collapse, open excavations, and extensive traffic diversions.
