At Rolkon, successful Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) doesn’t start when the drill enters the ground, and it doesn’t end when the drill is complete. From Scan to Sleeve, It’s More Than a Drill and our team treats every stage of the project as critical.
Successful underground infrastructure delivery requires an understanding of what exists below the surface, the conditions of the site, the route that needs to be followed and the potential risks involved. It requires careful planning and precise execution, as well as a focus on the successful delivery of the infrastructure itself.
Understand & Plan
Every project starts with understanding the site, which means better planning before the drill enters the ground.
Existing water, sewer, electrical, fibre and other underground services can all influence the proposed route. Ground conditions, access, depth and the surrounding environment also need to be considered before drilling begins.
Through services scanning, site assessment and route planning, the Rolkon team works to identify potential constraints and understand the conditions that will influence the installation.
Drill
With the route planned, the next stage is executing it with precision.
Horizontal Directional Drilling enables underground infrastructure to be installed beneath roads, built environments, waterways and other areas where extensive surface excavation may be disruptive or impractical. The planned route, existing services, ground conditions and site constraints all inform how the drill is executed.
Install
Completing the drill is not the end of the job.
The purpose is to get the required underground infrastructure into position, be it for water, sewer, stormwater, electrical, fibre or other services. Every site presents different challenges, and the installation needs to respond to those conditions while achieving the required project outcome.
Deliver
This is where From Scan to Sleeve becomes more than a description of the HDD process.
Successful project delivery is not measured by the number of metres drilled. The wider impact of the trenchless construction means how effectively the infrastructure is installed, how risk is managed and how disruption above the surface is reduced.
By considering each stage as part of the whole project, Rolkon’s approach extends beyond the drill itself.
Because the real value of trenchless construction isn’t measured by metres drilled. It’s measured by how effectively the underground infrastructure is delivered, risk is managed and disruption reduced.
