Stormwater and Sewer Line in eMdloti

The seaside town of eMdloti was the site of Rolkon’s most recent project, the installation of a stormwater and sewer line for Smenk.

The project required the two lines be installed adjacent to one another, the first an 84m, 450mm diameter HDPE PN 10 Stormwater line and the other an 84m, 200mm diameter HDPE PN 10 Sewer line.

With unstable rock and soil conditions caused by the recent flood damage, our lead driller had to pilot through a series of ditches while contending with the steep slope in the location.

During this 2-week project, our drilling team of Martin Jordaan, Sandile Mbedu, Nkosinathi Khanyile, Frank Mchunu, Robert Mazibuko and Blessing Dimba used horizontal directional drilling and pullback, manhole to manhole, with a Vermeer D36 drill rig. Sleeves were supplied in sections and welded together on-site by the Rhotech team. This was a solid team effort greatly supported by our supplier Rhotech.
